Welcoming World Leaders of G20 in Bali (part 19)

Ditulis oleh Gede Prama

The former US president George W. Bush told this story to one of Balinese priest: “In one night NASA satelite circling around Indonesia. All islands were dark. Strangely, Bali was full of light. What kind of Light is it?”.

No one answered that question at that time. But in the following 3 years, a famous US author Elizabeth Gilbert published “Eat, pray, love”.

It has been widely published in the forms book and movie as well: “Nice food was found in Italy, beautiful prayer was heard in India, and touching love was found in Bali”.

It’s very clear, the question came from US, the answer also came from US. At the peak of iceberg, Bali is well-known as island of love, the best island in the world, later Ubud even awarded as one of the beautiful city in the world.

Few who dive deeper, below the peak of iceberg there’s a long traditions in Bali, which have here for thousand years. One of it is the religion of holy water.

Before praying the Balinese are sprinkled by holy water, after praying again sprinkled by holy water. Using the language of western psychologists, it’s the intelligence of flowing.

Many psychologist agree, that’s the most important intelligence of our time. To be frank, conflict, violence, war happened because the mind of leaders are far from flowing.

And this kind of intelligence has beautified Bali island for thousand years. Look at the old tradition of giving food (suguhan), building home (penunggun karang) to lower realms.

It’s not a story of worshipping satan. Again, it’s not. It’s a story of loving-kindness and compassion. Similar to the other religion who praised triangle, in Bali the name of the triangle is Tri Hita Karana.

It’s the teaching of being balance between “God, nature, people”. Again and again, this is also the story of love. Not only loving small self, but also loving the greater self.

Another example, the name of village in the head of Bali island is Jagaraga. Meaning take good care of yourself. When the world leaders take good care of themselves, they also take good care of mother earth.

And the best way to take good care of ourselves is by attaining peace (the peak of Balinese prayers). As water can not be separeted with wet, peace can not be separated with love.

Please keep in the heart, in the desert a cup of water can saved life, in the dark of night a small candle can save life. In the same way, in the dark age this small wisdom of Bali island can save many life here on earth.

Welcome to Bali world leaders of G20. It’s a deep honour to share the peace vibration of Bali island to all of you. May all beings are happy.
